Diets That Work

For everybody struggling to lose weight the subject of diets will be very close to the heart. There are so many different diets that are hailed as being the savior of the weight loss brigade that many find the choice bewildering. Add to this the fact that many ‘proven’ diets contradict each other and you will see how confusing it can be.

There are diets for healthy living and there are diets for losing weight. Diets that work however are those that you stick to! Most people will cheat when on a diet and should not be surprised when the weight does not fall off as promised. If it is a diet for healthy living and weight loss is not the primary goal there is less likelihood of cheating but when the aim is to shed weight, the more extreme the diet the more likely you are to deviate from the instructions.

Therefore it would seem that diets that work must be ones that are pretty close to what you would normally eat. Forget the fads, eating only meat or getting rid of carbohydrates, choose a diet that moderates your total food intake and makes no promises unless you are prepared to match your diet with exercise too!

A large part of getting the weight loss diet right is taking note of the eating patterns and lifestyle changes that are advocated by the diet plan. Eating late at night must be avoided whatever diet you choose, loading meals to the earlier hours such as breakfast and lunch is better. Also little and often helps avoid the binges and fat laying down inactivity that follows large meals. Make sure that you always have enough energy and you blood sugar levels are not always all over the place. This is important in maintaining a steady state for your body which coupled with a healthy approach to exercise will help you lose weight and keep it off.

Treating your body like a yo-yo will lead to a multitude of problems as the years go by. Research shows that serial dieters that binge then starve themselves from month to month are more likely to develop heart problems and diabetes in later life, together with a host of less well known disorders. The state of some who believe “…it may be easy to put on put I can lose it just as fast…” is just as bad as being obese all the time…possibly worse.
